Hey ladies! Just seeing what all of you got from your kids? Or what you got other moms? Home-made gifts? Cards? A meal? What did you get?!

I got an iPod and boombox dock for it! My hubby got the iPod for Mother's day and our anniversary (it's tomorrow) so the "kids" got me the boombox dock! I am so happy, I've needed a radio for outside and my kitchen for a while! Anyways, what did you get?

Oh and last night he stayed up til 1130 cleaning the apt so I wouldn't have to. His parents are coming for a 10-day visit and I am the one who gets the place cleaned and ready for company so that was refreshing! :) Hope you all had a wonderful day.

Oh well let's see here, I got to cook and clean all day and feed my family. Oh, but I did get a card that said simply 'thank you for all that you do'. God, that must have taken, like, 2 seconds of thought. Happy first Mother's Day.

That's funny but not funny all at the same time. Don't feel too bad. I got a card with some money in it from my son (but really my husband because my son is only 1). I get stuff like that from, like, my grandma for birthdays or something. Not your typical Mother's Day gift. Oh, well, it's the thought that counts, I guess. It really was just another day for us.

I was really upset with my husband yesterday. My husband put about 2 seconds of thought into Mother's Day. First thing when I got up was to open the card that he picked out from him and my 2 year old daughter. The card read "from your daughter and son-n-law." It's pretty obvious that he didn't even read the card, considering he is my husband not my son-n-law. Then he flopped down on the couch while I cleaned the entire house b/c HIS family was coming over for the day. Then after I expressed how disappointed I was that I only got a card (that he didn't even read) he called his mommy to tell her I was mad at him and then she called me to tell me not to be mad at him! I am baffled by my husband's intentions and actions and I am truly hurt that he didn't make any sort of effort to acknowledge that it was Mother's Day.

Oh, I hear you. It sounds like I'm married to your husband brother. My card was almost as bad or worse and I won't even mention what my card said. My husband said I am lucky to get a card because he remembered it. What's up with these men?

Hey, at least you got a card, all I got was, "Happy Mother's Day. I appreciate all the things you do around here," from my husband. Nothing else, no help around the house, nothing. He just slept and watched TV. And my son said, "I suppose you want me to tell you Happy Mother's Day." Why say it if you think it is only expected, not because you mean it?

Sounds like your husband need to cut the cord, so to speak. If my husband ever decided to throw a temper tanrum and then call his mommy to whine and tattle on me I would pack his diaper bag and send him on his childish way.

We have an understanding when it comes to Mothers/Fathers Day. The kids are pretty much his territory for the day or vise versa. As for gifts we agree on an amount and then shop for ourselves - ALONE, no kids!!

I am still in shock that your husband thought it appropriate to call his mom - some people!!

Go Flyers!!!

I am in the same boat. I got diddley-squat again. I did get to clean the house on Saturday and again on Sunday for company and I got to cook for them. I also "got" to bu presents for both my mom and my m-i-l and mail them. Aren't I lucky? The definition of insane is to do the same thing over and expect a different result. So, why do I keep buying fathers day gifts and think he'll help the kids get me something? I'm a little bummed. I think I am the maid/cook/personal shopper/taxi, etc. And I make, oh, a nickel a year:)

I was kind of bummed to. We did go to TJ Maxx the weekend before and I did spend some money on myself, so I kind of said to my husband that he didnt have to get me much for mother's day, but not even a card or a "Happy Mother's Day!" My mom took her to my cousin's bday party for a couple of hours while I did homework. Whoopie! Dont want to sound unappreciative, but I guess I thought my husband could at least run to the store and get me a card or something. Okay enough with my ranting! :)

Your gift is that you get to stay home with your family. I am work 40+ hours in four days and do all the household work on top of that. I feel you should be happy that you get to stay home with your kids.

It is great to get to stay home with the kids. I too am a SAHM, but along with spending just about every of their waking moments with them I have to make plenty of sacrifices for things I want and sometimes feel I need.. but I go without because the extra paycheck isn't coming in.
Maybe I read your response wrong... or maybe I am just in a very bad mood today, but I thought you were a bit harsh 'luvmybebe.'
As for what I got on Mother's Day....I did hint quite a bit about the day approaching because my husband never remembers anything. So on Saturday he took all three boys, I thought just to the library, but turns out he went into two different shops downtown trying to figure out what to buy me. Then he went to the greenhouse set up in the parking lot of the grocery store, and he had Wyatt pick out a nice hanging plant for me. It isn't the one I would have picked... but it was lovely, because Wyatt was VERY proud of how 'red' it was. 'You like red, right Mommy?' he asked. Parker and Brody both found it amusing that a flower would be bought at a 'grocery store.' Hearing their stories of shopping with Daddy was priceless....
They gave me the gift on Saturday, so then on Sunday.. I had the privelege of doing the usual... cleaning, cooking...entertaining etc. Oh well...
Sandra

I wasn't trying to be mean. I was just simply stating that you should consider yourself luck because you get to stay home and enjoy your children. I would give anything to do that, but unfortunatly we can't afford it. I was kinda irritated because she complained about not having money. If she feels they don't have enough money maybe she should consider getting a job.

I didn't read it as her complaining about not having any money, she just said that she gets paid maybe a nickel a year to do all the things she does as a mom. Moms don't get paid for the things they do, if we did we would all be rich!!
