A couple of things that have worked for us with Raina:
1. Wet a washcloth and put it in the freezer. I use the little baby sized ones and fold them up then put them in a 'u' shape. she loved to chew those.
2. At Target and Walmart (i think) they have these mesh feeder things for fruit and what not. We fill that with ice chips and she loves that.
3. Baby orajel.
4. Humphrey's or Hyllands teething tablets. They are all natural. We brought some home accidentally thanks to Piper one day and miracle of miracles they were exactly what we needed.
Motrin does help too. I hope she starts feeling better! Our pediatrician did tell us that they can have more runny stools with teething due to the extra amount of drool they are swallowing, so don't be alarmed if this occurs.
Good luck!
Hylands teething tablets is what I used on both my kids. It's great their tiny natural pills that dissolve almost instantly and only take a few minutes to work. You can get them at Hyvee in the natural foods/vitamins section. I'm sure Lewis would have them too. And I gave them Tylenol. My mom swears by a cool damp washcloth though, then they can just chew on that. (suppervised of course.) Hope this helps!
thanks so much! We do have the mesh feeder. So I think we'll try that next and I'm going to send Dan to get the tablets. Have a good night mommies!
Rita, Klaire is teething too(nothing showing yet though). I have tryed the teething tablets and baby orajel for her and those havent really worked at all. I have been taking a wash cloth and wetting only a corner of it and stickin it in the freezer.(when I wet the whole thing it is to cold for her little hands to tolerate) this has worked awesome for us. I do give tylenol if she really has a meltdown. At first I felt bad giving the tylenol because I didnt want to keep drugin her up but then someone reminded me how painful it was for us to get molars as teens/adults. So they are really troopers when I really think about the pain they are having. Good Luck hopefully it breaks though for her soon so she can get a little break before the next one comes.

Poor Klaire! I give her the washcloths too, it just seems like nothing's cutting it! Yeah I think I'm going to go with motrin or tylenol when it's really bad like last night. How' Klaire doing today? Anything pop yet?
We used the teething tablets and they are great!! Cole dont use them anymore, he prefers to chew on a wash rag!! Teething is always the pits.. it is so sad to be so helpless!! But i know how you feel, Cole is 9 months old and has 6 teeth, all of his front teeth.. he started teething at 4 months old!!!
We used wash clothes too, those tub rubber duckies or frogs are great for teething too. Also I let my kids chew on my fingers and i rubbed their gums for them. Its ok to give pain meds to them, if just to take some of the edge off.
I have to second and third or fourth the teething tablets, they really do work and they disolve so quickly that the child doesn't even know they are there. The frozen washcloth works great and you may want to rotate between tylenol and motrin to get a little more effectiveness.

I'm going to love you forever,
I'm going to like you for always,
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be.
Sadee has popped two teeth in the last week and a half, too. She has been gnawing away on these squeezy squeaky fish that her cousin gave her for Christmas. (I think they are tub toys.) Give her something soft and flexible to gnaw on, that may pacify her for a while. We were lucky with Sadee...we didn't even know there were teeth coming until I saw the white in her mouth. I would give Motrin, too. It has to hurt, right??? I can't imagine what that feels like.
Our poor babies!

You were really lucky with SadeeI'm jealous ha ha
I feel so bad for them, yeah it has to hurt. Holly's good today, bouncing like a monkey in her jumperoo right now :) thanks for asking. I can't believe she's 6 mo old, it goes too fast!!!
You've gotten a lot of good suggestions, a lot of which I've tried and had some good luck with. May I add one more? Frozen waffles. Same concept as the frozen teething ring, ice chips, etc. Of course, she'll need to be a couple months older before I would try it, but I've found it to be a great thing with our youngest. Sometimes he's hungry, but his mouth is too tender to eat, so the frozen waffle kills two birds with one stone.
How is little Holly today? Any better?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I can't wait to try, EVERYTHING! I hate seeing her in pain. The waffle is a great idea. thank you all!!!
I just found something else that seems to be working for Klaire. She just started to have a teething fit and I have some of those biter biskets. It is working awesome! It makes a mess too. Klaire is down to her diaper. I have to watch her really well but it seems to be working she actually gets po'd when she drops it and cant reach it.

What are they?
The kind I have are Gerber and I hear they are better cuz they dont break apart as easily. They are like gramcrackers but a stick. They melt really fast hence the mess and need for her to be down to her diaper. You can pretty much get them anywhere they have Gerber products. Good Luck I hope you find something that works for her.

Earth's Best also makes biter biscuits. They are harder, so I don't worry about Sadee breaking a chunk off like the Gerber ones do. They do break, though, if she drops them on the floor. We do biter biscuits before bath time. That way, she goes straight into the tub when she is done. She loves them! They come in two flavors, maple or vanilla.

Oh, wow thank you I have been told Gerber is the best brand to get,but I will try the other one too. I didnt know they came in different flavors either! awesome thanks

Don't thank me, thank nordstromgirlee...she's the one who recommended them to me!

I need to clarify....I just gave Sadee a couple biscuits tonight, and the brand is NOT Earth's Best....they are Healthy Time. But I found them by the Earth's Best baby food at HyVee. Also wanted to say, she did manage to break them this time....maybe it's the two teeth she has now!!!

I realize that I am a little late on this, but one of the things that I have found that my 7 month old (with one tooth) seems to like is an empty medicine dropper bottle. She likes to crew on the rubber dropper. I think it feels good on her gums and it is also something different and new so it keeps her entertained. I actually washed one up and put some rice in it and super-glued it shut...Kara loves it.
What a great idea! I will have to remember that one! And a fun diaper bag toy, too!

We love our Baltic Amber teething necklace. I got my necklace on this site and you can read some info on it: http://hyenacart.com/inspiredbyfinn/index.php?c=19&p=26590 I also sometimes give Hyland's teething tablets. My daughter also likes the ice cube in the mesh feeder.
The tablets work wonders, also the gerber biscuts by the formula in walmart work well, my kids loved the I think they were called fruit puffs in the same area they make them in parents choice that are a little cheaper, mr freezes they loved, one liked a medicine dropper rubber, Not sure if anyone elses doctor have told you this we were told NOT to give the orajel cause it makes the gums harder making it harder for the teeth to come thru?? I didn't hear that until my 3rd child.. I thru it all away!! Good luck my daughter is 18mth and just a month ago finally started getting teeth, crazy when my son got his first tooth at 3 WEEKS you just never know I guess.
Thanks everyone!!! We'll try it all. Holly's doing good today. She hasn't popped the tooth yet. :(
Was hoping the first one would be here by now.
yeah i heard those teething tablets work well...i just seen them the other day at the natural food Co-op on 33rd.

Poor little baby. Holly hasn't had a massive meltdown since she had influenza in Feb. Tonight she was crying so hard. I can feel the tip of her 1st tooth poking a little but it hasn't cut yet. I feel so terrible for her, I wish I could do it for her. I'm excited to see the little toofer but I feel so bad that she's hurting.
She was trying to bite me but doesn't have teeth yet. So it seemed to just make her more mad at me like LET ME BITE YOU! She'll be 6 mo tomorrow so I think I'm going to give her motrin. Do you guys give them anything to take the edge off the pain or just something to chew on? Thanks! Rita
