Is anyone or have you been or maybe you know someone with a painkiller addiction? I fear my friend is and Im not sure how she even gets her pills or where to begin talking to her about it. Any help?

How close are you? If you had a problem and she knew, would she be comfortable asking you about it? A true friend will be touched that you are concerned. Maybe she has something going on that she is scared about and talking about it will make it too real. Chronic Pain from an accedent or past injury could be the reason. If I had a problem I would want my friends to talk to me about it.

my aunt had an addiction. Trust me, you'd be surprised how easy it is to get pills (see my post about opinions on Sanford!). My aunt has various doctors she sees-orthopaedic, colonoscopy doctor, family doctor, etc. She would go to each one at various times and have aches and pains and they were more than happy to oblige her with some pain meds. Then it would get to the point if her sons or husband had pain meds for something they'd had done, she'd take some of theirs, etc.

How to talk to her about it? Thats tough, she'll more than likely outright deny it over and over and over...the only thing that has finally open my aunt's eyes is the effects it was having on her boys.
