Optometrist

So my son just informed me that "when I look at a book for too long I get a headache." So I need to take him to an optometrist. I looked at the list from my insurance and instead of just picking I was wondering if anyone could recommend one.

Dr. Kollis at Howlin Vision was really great with my little girl. They are located on Western and 45th. They also do free vision tests to babies 6 months - 1 year of age.

My ped sent us to Mick VanDenBosch at the Sanford clinic on Minnesota (right near Kaladi's) and he is fab-u-lous with my 2 year old. She's terrified and carry's on and on and he is super patient and very quick to get done what he needs to.

We have a Pediatric Opthalmologist that we LOVE. Dr. Tufty with Ophthalmology Ltd. Our pediatrician referred us to him when our infant was diagnosed with an eye condition called nystagmus. He's great with kids and very caring. Everyone that I know that has used him has loved him.

We see Dr West in the same clinic....we have been happy with our care. Our optometrist was unable to get Wyatt to sit and cooperate, so he referred us.

I take my kids to the Walmart Vision Center. Dr Hartman is really good. (West side Walmart) I like it because I can get an appt that works with our schedules. Another plus is that when glasses get bent out of shape, and with kids they will, I can just stop in a get them fixed while I am there.

I was also looking for an optometrist for my kids and when I got here, saw this thread and thought instead of starting a new one, I'd give this a little bump and see if anyone else has any recommendations. I want someone who not only tolerates kids, but enjoys seeing them, and of course, is great with them. :)

If anyone else sees Dr Angela Gulbranson and has any other comments about her, I'd love to hear them.

TIA!

Definately Dr. Gulbranson. What we liked was that she is a pediatric specialist and has some sort of reading program for children and doesn't just slap glasses on your kid if you know what I mean

I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts or help for me. I have a 1 year old little girl. she just recently since easter has started blinking all the time and acts like she is squinting sometimes. she rubs her eyes sometimes too but not much. people comment to me all the time about it and ask me what she is doing. has any one else had their kids do this? its making me worried something is wrong with her eyes but how would you know when she is so little? maybe its just a faze and she is experiementing with her eyes and trying to wink or something? i dont know, its starting to worry me though. has anyone else taken a 1 year old in for an eye exam? i was thinking of going to dr gulbranson too just because i went to grade school with her :)
i thought that would be fun to see her again but any suggestions or comments on others experience with kids doing weird things with their eyes would be appreciated!! Thanks!

If your daughter has vision problems, the sooner they catch it, the better. We first took our daughter in at 2 months and they were able to tell us whether or not she needed glasses. From everything I've heard, Dr. Gulbranson would be a fine choice.

Thanks! i might just take her in just to be sure so I can stop worrying. My mom keeps telling me its probably just something she learned she can do with her eyes but I would hate to let it go if its not!!
Thanks for your input!
