I think a store like this would be so much fun to have. I wonder if it would make it in Sioux Falls, though. Did anyone shop at Eggception? It was a maternity/baby store behind the Olive Garden. Totally cute stuff - one of the best selections of maternity clothes I'd ever seen in town (and a really awesome selection of jewelry and purses) - but it was more than I ever wanted to spend. I don't remember how long Eggception was around, but they went out of business sometime last summer.
I agree, we just don't have that type of market around here that things that spendy sell well in. It is very cute stuff and I agree with the comment on Eggception. Same deal with that store. I also believe though too, that some of Eggception's deal was that it was not friendly at all in there. I went in there once when they first opened and not again until they were going out of business thinking there would be some good deals and just not a happy place at all!! When I was pregnant with my daughter there was another store that was connected to the Larsen Design's when they were by Century Theatre's and it was spendy stuff in there also, but when I was pregnant they were going out of business too and I got some really cute maternity clothes in there for so cheap!! I just don't think stores like that do good around here. The only strictly maternity store that does good is Motherhood in the mall, they have nice clothing at reasonalbe prices. It would be fun to have the Hot Mama store here, but just not worth it in my opinion unless the market changes here when some of the other new stores start showing up here. You just never know how things may change.
When I was preg. with my 2nd, last sumer, we happened to be up in the cities, I checked out that store, and it was more money than I would want to spend for a few months of wear! Cute clothes though, I will have to say that!
I would be curious to see if a used maternity clothing store would work? When I was pregnant with my son there was a children's clothing store that also sold used maternity clothes on the east side of town but it is not there any more. What does everyone think? Does everyone have maternity clothes they would like to get rid of???

I think that is a great idea.
The used kids store that is opening on 41st is suppose to be having maternity clothes also.
There was a used children's store where I used to live and they bought back and sold maternity clothes. I bought a lot of my maternity clothes there. You could also sell your maternity clothes and get store credit for baby stuff. I am not having any more babies but I think it would be a great thing to have here!
BUMP....
Ok, all...see my comment above...I decided to actually pursue this idea & I am proud to announce the launch of www.elegantmommy.com!!!!!
I am so excited, nervous, giddy, you name it!!!
Check out the website, every thing is $9.99 or less. I want to thank everyone on this site who has given me ideas & feedback or sold me clothes!!!
If you know anyone who is pregnant or who has recently had a baby, please pass along the website! I am going to be buying more clothes as the inventory I have flies off the shelves! Please PM me if you have items to sell!
As a side note, I am also looking for people who have websites & would like to do a link swap, or people who have "Mommy" items to sell. In particular, I am looking for a few mommy items that I think are really cool...Anyone make Nursing Necklaces? Anyone able to make Belly Casts?
I am also able to sell Preggie Pops on the website, so if you like these, you can now get them locally from another Mommy!
I would be very appreciative of any feedback that anyone has, positive or negative!
Thanks everyone!

I am happy for you!!! I have checked out your site and you have GREAT prices, especially on jeans. I hope your inventory expands. I will definetley buy from your site if/when I am needing maternity clothes again. Good luck with your business endeavor!!
WooHoo Shelly!!! I will be telling everyone I know!
What an exciting time for you!! I just have two questions. What is a nursing necklace? and What is a preggie pop? Oh, and I have a bunch of maternity clothes I might be interested in selling you. I haven't quite been able to part with them, but I think my husband and I finally agreed that we're probably through having kids. So, if your inventory dips, send me a message. Good luck and go get 'em business woman!
Nursing necklaces are necklaces that have colorful stones or large beads at the neckline that draw the babies eyes up while he or she is nursing...what a brilliant idea!
Preggie pops are lollipops or drops that help with nauseau or morning sickness. They taste great too!

That is a neat idea. I should experiment with that. (I bead a little.) I also seem to recall nursing bras that had black & white figures on the upper part of the cup to catch babies attention too. I suppose black and white for early on, and colors for older babies. Neat idea & great site. Good luck!
That is great! Wish you best of luck with your site :)
I think a store like that would be a good idea because we don't have one but I just checked out the website and holy cow. Some of the shirts were almost $100 and some were more then that. I would never spend that on a shirt, let alone one I wore for a few months!
On www.elegantmommy.com???? Nearly nothing on www.elegantmommy.com is over $10!!!
Or are you referring to hotmamaonline.com?????

Has anyone heard of the "Hot Mama" store in the cities? Do you think it would be a good store to have in Sioux Falls or is it too expensive? I recently read an article about the store in the Star Tribune and thought it was a great idea, a store that focuses on new Moms and pregnant women. Has a play area for kids and wide isles. The clothing seems to be a bit spendy though. Check it out at www.hotmamaonline.com. Any thoughts??
