OMG! That is so funny! I'm sorry, but I have a little girl, who HATES going to bed. When she was little, she'd cry and cry and cry, and sleep was just a dirty word! Along with anything associated with bedtime! When she was 2, she'd be in her room, "reading" books to her doll, and telling them stories. Now that she is nearly 4, and night time potty trained, it's that she has to go potty like 80 times, and then comes up with wild stories about why she is "afraid" to go to sleep. Sounds to me like she (your daughter) is just a night owl, and one who is bright and doesn't want to "miss out" on anything. At least now my daughter is old enough to rationalize (somewhat!) with! :) My daughter also likes her movies, but honestly, she didn't care when we cut her off from so many also! She was still NOT going to bed when I put her there. When I counted up the number of hours of sleep she was getting, which didn't seem like enough until I counted them, and realized it was within the realm of "normal", I just gave up and let her Dad (also a night owl) to bed!
Wow, I'm so glad my daughter isn't the only crazy one that likes to stay awake! I can barely get her to take a nap anymore, even tho when she doesn't she is HORRIBLE by 5...and then if I drive anywhere she falls asleep instantly! We still let her watch a movie SOMETIMES at night, it's her reward if she is good. If she is naughty, we take away the movie! Works pretty well actually. But yea, she would stay up until midnight watching TV or talking, or...um just anything! She pulls the "potty" stunt for about 30 min, then the "what about YOUR bed?" and then finally, "I want a hug and kiss!" (after she's already gotten about 5) LoL. SO yea, good luck! I hope that taking away the movies works for you...

My two and a half year old daughter is a TV addict ... ok, so I shouldn't say TV shows but she is a movie addict. We have such a collection its UNREAL. She watched Barney, Care Bears, Little People, 101 Dalmations, Franklin the Turtle, Clifford, and anything Disney. She hasn't been sleeping well at night and I think its because of all the movie watching. So, tonight I packed away ALL her movies --- she is cut-off - cold turkey!!! LOL! Wish me well!
--> BAAADDDD MOMMMMYY! <-- She watches anywhere from three or four 30-45 minute videos EVERY night. We then read books, play Brain Quest for toddlers (which by the way is AWESOME and EVERYONE should have them for their kids - Barnes and Noble!) and then its lights out. Am I stimulating her too much by books and trivia? She HATES to go to bed. I can put her to bed at 8 and she will STILL be in her room talking at 10pm. She shares a room with her 1yr old brother so its starting to become a problem. Any help out there?
